A Page Dedicated to our Rottie "Warrior"

This page is dedicated to the memory of our Rottweiler Warrior. Warrior was born in the Great State of South Dakota in February of 1997. He was a nine month old pup when we purchased him from a couple in Box Elder, South Dakota. He spent the next seven years with us in SD and New Hampshire loving to romp around in the snow during the winter months, and taking in the breeze during a car ride on a warm summer's day. Warrior was a great dog that loved people and other dogs as you will see in pictures below. In April of 2004 he went to the vets to be checked out for some lameness in his legs. Results of an x-ray on one of his hind legs found that he had the dreaded Bone Cancer. Our worst nightmares had became reality. We kept our big guy as comfortable as possible until October of that year. On October 8th it became obvious he wasn't going to make it any further and his Life was coming to an end.* He died in our arms at 6:08 on that terrible morning, and was buried that afternoon at "Animal Heaven" in Hollis, New Hampshire. He's now at the Rainbow Bridge just this side of Heaven, waiting for the day we can once again be together.

* We want to assure everyone that we did not allow Warrior to suffer unnecessarily. During the final six months of his life he did very well until that final morning. He was constantly evaluated by our veterinarian, and the great people where he was kenneled. When necessary he was given medication for the swelling and if it appeared needed we gave him pain medication. Until the evening of October 7th he pretty much looked like the same old big guy we'd always known. On that evening he was just no longer himself and he began to fade very quickly. Somehow complications had set in and we decided to let him die right here in his own home and in our arms. We're sure he knew we were with him. Godspeed Pal.
